Yes, safety is a top priority at Hornby Spark. All members are expected to follow safety guidelines, which include wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), following tool usage guidelines, and adhering to any safety training provided by Hornby Spark staff or volunteers.
Spark membership is $180 per quarter (3 months) or $600 annually. Members receive 24/7 access to all Spark facilities, some tools, and equipment require special training.
What do we expect of fellow members?
Our refund policy is as follows:
1. Membership dues are not refundable after the first day of the month for which they cover.
2. Payments for multiple months of dues will be refunded on a prorated basis, withstanding condition #1. The annual membership level is not eligible for refunds of any kind.
3. Payments for classes are refundable up to 48 hours prior to the start time of the class. After this time, refunds are not available.
4. If a class is canceled or postponed, registrants may choose a refund or credit towards a future class of equal cost.
5. Payments for storage space of any kind are not refundable.
6. Tangible goods are sold as final sale, as-is, where-is, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied.
We accept e-transfers to hornbyspark@gmail.com, payments by cash, or cheques made out to The Hornby Spark Society.
Members are expected to:
- Make tidy use of our shared workspace and tools.
- Bring a deep desire to learn and/or the patience to mentor.
- Volunteer in some capacity to ensure the continuation and improvement of Spark.
- Show respect to their fellow members.
No, tools are available only for the use of our members.
We do not offer any drop-in service for non-members. As a member-driven organization, we expect tool-users to have a commitment to maintaining all equipment in a working condition and contributing to an inspiring and empowering culture where innovation and creativity flourish.
No, the tools are available for the use of our members. We do not offer service-for-hire at this time. However, if you post on our Facebook group, a member may be able to take on the job.
